Mayfly is an exhibition series conceived, curated, and organized by our dear amazing curator Miss Baik. Her project’s aim is to give artists who wouldn’t other have it, the real world opportunities for exhibition and showcase. Each show lasts for two days (hence the name Mayfly) and they occur every six weeks. The themes of these exhibitions are only based around the sake of the exhibition’s existence, and are therefore open to all artistic opportunities.
Saturday night was the opening of Mayfly V, an atypical event in the series for two reasons; the longevity of the exhibition itself (a lofty two weeks) and that the event was a collaboration between Miss Baik and Yeoljeong Party. Yeoljeong Party is a group that seeks to connect people based on interests at variously themed parties.
The exhibition portion of the event was exceptionally curated, presenting a select few Mayfly regulars in a totally transformed space. The space itself was a coffee shop earlier that day, and by evening it had evolved to rival any current small-scale gallery. The evening began as any other art exhibition would, filled with ample wine and delectable treats, and slowly, yet increasingly, moved towards its goal of a socially focused event.
With the help of amiable hosts, the evening was a successful social event and ended with event superlatives and a shared sense of community. The exhibition will run until Saturday September 12th at Office Coffee.
